Title: Jio India SIM shows “No Service” on iPhone after returning to Japan — International Roaming not working

Hello everyone,

I live in Japan and recently returned from India. Since returning, my Indian Jio physical SIM has been showing “No Service” on my iPhone.

My situation:

  • Location: Japan

  • SIM: Physical Jio prepaid SIM

  • Regular Indian recharge: Active

  • International roaming pack: Active

  • Problem: No network signal after returning from India

I need my Indian number to receive SMS messages and banking OTPs while living in Japan.

Has anyone experienced the same issue with Jio international roaming in Japan recently? Did you manage to restore network service?

I would especially appreciate advice from people using Jio in Japan. Is this a Jio roaming provisioning issue, a Japanese partner-network issue, or an iPhone setting problem?

Thank you.

iPhone 12, iOS 27

Hi,

To fix a Jio India SIM showing "No Service" in Japan, you need to manually select a supported Japanese roaming partner network (like NTT Docomo or SoftBank) in your iPhone settings.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Manually Select Network: Go to Settings > Mobile Service (or Cellular) > Network Selection, turn off Automatic, and manually select NTT Docomo or SoftBank or KDDI
  • Enable Data Roaming: Go to Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data Options and turn on Data Roaming.
  • Check International Roaming Pack: Ensure your Jio account has an active International Roaming (IR) pack or international services enabled via the MyJio app, as outgoing/incoming roaming requires a valid pack.
  • Toggle Airplane Mode: Turn on Airplane mode for 30 seconds, then turn it off to force the iPhone to re-scan for the Japanese carrier network.
  • Network Reset: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings if the carrier configuration is stuck.
