OSX10.5.8にアップグレードしてから、Firefoxを使用していると、フリーズを起こすようになりました。
Firefoxは3.5.6にアップグレードしてからは、動作も軽くなって快調だったのですが、やっぱりフリーズを時たま起こします。
問題なのは、Firefoxがフリーズを起こすと、Finderもフリーズしてツールバーのリンゴマークが無反応になり、強制終了も再起動も出来なくなってしまうことです。いつまで待っても回復しません。やむを得ず電源を落とすことになります。
とても危険なのは、わかっているのですが、他によい方法ありますか？
ディスクユーティリティでディスクの修復、アクセス権の修復もやりましたが、改善しません。
アドオンが便利なのでFirefoxを使っているのですが、Safariにした方が良いでしょうか？
それとも、Googleのchromeを使っていらっしゃる方はいますか？
使い心地はどうでしょうか？

Leopardは2ヶ月しか使ってませんので詳しくありませんが... Firefoxがトラブルを起こしてもFinderが反応しなくなる事は普通ならないと思います。まずOSX環境を直すのが先のように思います。
$HOME/Library/Logsのcrash.logを載せられたほうが解決は早いと思います。
# 公開しては不味い事は伏せて載せて下さい。/Library/Logsにもあるかも知れません。

当方もLeopard環境下でFirefoxを使用していますが、FirefoxがCrashしてもOS(Finder)を巻き添えにする事は有りません。
ぴっぴ さんが言われていますが、Firefoxの問題ではなくOSサイドの問題かと思います。
旧来のMac OS では、メモリー保護機能が無くて、あるアプリケーションがCrashするとOSを巻き添えにしましたが、
Mac OS X では、メモリー保護機能を有している為、特定のアプリケーションのCrashが他に影響を及ぼす事は有りません。
iMacintoshiさん、返事が遅くなってすみません。
私も、そうではないかとも思ったのですが、アドオンをひとつずつ外して様子を見ることにします。

実は始めてここを見ました。いろいろあるのでわからなかったのですが、Logsの中のCrashReporterの中にFinder_2009-12-10-155121-xxxx-xxx-nokonpyuta-2.crashと言うのがありました。
違っていたら、教えて下さい。
一番新しいCrashの日付のがこれでした。

私もMACを10年以上使っていますが、FirefoxがフリーズしてFinderが使えなくなったのは初めてです。
それで、ひょっとしたらFirefoxとOSX10.5の相性でも悪いのかと思い、このディスカッションを見ましたが、どこにもそんなスレッドが見あたらず、それでみなさんにお尋ねした次第です。

Thread 2でlibSystem.B.dylibが問題を起こしているのでShaed Cacheが問題を抱えた可能性があります。
Macを再起動してFirefoxを試しFinderが落ちるようならTerminalで下記を実行して下さい。Passwordが必要。

HIToolboxを壊してるならOSX 10.5.8 Comboを入れ直しで直るかも知れません。
# ComboにはHIToolboxの差分Fileを含んでます。
Add-oneでFirefoxがCrashしてもFirefoxが落ちるだけなのが正常です。
# 当方ではFirefoxがCrashすることは極まれで、それでFinderがFreezeした事はありません。

幸い、今の所はFirefoxを使っていても、フリーズしません。
書きませんでしたが、一度に二つのウインドウを開けて、片方が読み込みを終わる前にウインドウのサイズ変更をやっていたらフリーズしたのです。
今までも、良くやっていたのですが、フリーズにまでは到りませんでした。
なので、読み込みがちゃんと終わるまでは、ウインドウをいじらないようにしていますので、今の所は快調です。
UUIDの件、知りませんでした。

良く分かりませんね。トラブルが起こっているのにまるで他人事のような感じを受けます。Comboを入れ直すなり、sudo update_prebinding... メンテナンスなのですが... FinderやUpdateで問題が起こる可能性があるかも知れないのに。

そのように取られるとは思っていませんでした。
私は、ただ、また同じようなトラブルが起こったら困るし、他にも同じようなトラブルの方がいらっしゃるのではないかと思って、このスレをたてました。
でも、他には私のようなトラブルの方はいらっしゃらないようだし、私自身、今の所はフリーズは起こりません。
そして、ピッピさんが教えてくれたような対処法を、すぐに取れるだけの知識も経験も私にはありません。
たぶん、ピッピさんなら一時間もかからないかも知れませんが、私がそれをやれば数時間は費やすと思いますし、うまくやれる自信もありません。
ひとつは、私の年齢の所為かもしれません。
ピッピさんには私が他人事のような感じを受け取られたのでしょうが、私にはこれ以上、この問題が再発しない限り追及する気はおこらないのです。
でも、本当に、ピッピさんのアドバイスは役に立ちました。
どうか気を悪くなさらず、他の方のトラブルにも、アドバイスを続けてあげてください。

Home以外のFileが問題を抱えた場合、Mac OS X 10.5.8 Update Comboを入れ直せば直る可能性があります。これはApple推奨の修復方法で年齢制限はありません。ComboにはHIToolbox, Finder, libSystem.B.dylibのFileを含んでますしShared CacheのRebuildも行ってくれます。
